Provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Simcoe, Ontario, now part of the Southwest District of Special Olympics Ontario (SOO), has been involved with Special Olympics for nearly 28 years. Today, with close to 140 athletes and 8 sports clubs, our community continues to thrive.
Registration is held twice a year for our sports clubs. Swimming, bowling, floor hockey and basketball in the fall and winter, spring and summer pave the way forT ball, softball and golf.
**Currently our club age requirement is 8 years and up. It is up to the discretion of the Head Coach and our Community Coordinator to approve enrolment in any of our sports. Certain criteria may need to be met in order to ensure the safety of all athletes involved.
From our community council to our coaches, everyone that helps to make our club excel, are volunteers. We would like to thank all of those that have donated their time and enthusiasm and encourage others to join our team. Please contact us for more information on becoming a volunteer today
